Every loop is the same. 6.706 km around the reservoir — A mix of walking & mountain bike tracks.
Before every lap start, the Race Director flips a coin at the kennel. Heads — clockwise. Tails — anti-clockwise. You don't know which until you go, and you don't get to choose.
The bell rings at the top of the hour and you go. Be back in the kennel before it rings again, ready to head out for the next lap. Late by a second? You're out.
There's no podium. There's no time. There's no second place. Only one runner finishes — everyone else is a DNF.
Crews live in the camp. You go alone. You come back alone. The event organisers may put wee treats out on the course, but it will be a surprise at the time.
Clockwise: out the gate. Down the track. Through the kiosk. Over the stream. Graded walking track for nearly 3 km, then single-track mountain bike for 1.5 km, then a gentle downhill to the finish. Keep the lakes on your right going clockwise. Anti-clockwise, keep them on your left. That should stop you getting lost.
Nobody has finished a Reservoir Dog yet. So we've modelled the field with six sample athletes. Find the one closest to you. Adjust your expectations accordingly.
